The safe default
If you print one size for all adult garments, 11" × 14" full front is the industry standard compromise. It looks intentional on a small and still substantial on a 2XL.

Where to position the transfer
- ●Full front: 2–3 inches below the collar seam for adults, 1.5–2 inches for youth. Centre horizontally between the sleeve seams.
- ●Left chest: 4–5 inches from the collar, 3–4 inches from the centre line, aligned with the wearer's left.
- ●Full back: 3–4 inches below the collar seam, centred.
- ●Nape / neck label: 1 inch below the collar seam, typically 3" × 1".
- ●Sleeve: 3–4 inches up from the sleeve hem, centred on the outer arm.
Fold the garment vertically to find the true centre line before pressing — shoulder seams are unreliable on cheaper blanks.
Fitting transfers on a sheet (ganging)
Film is priced per sheet, so how efficiently you fill it directly changes your cost per print. Leave 0.25 inch between designs and 0.5 inch from the sheet edge.

Frequently asked questions
What is the standard DTF transfer size for an adult t-shirt?+
Full front prints are typically 11" × 14" for adult sizes L and up, or 10" × 12" for S and M. Left chest logos are usually 3.5"–4" wide.
How far below the collar should a DTF transfer go?+
Two to three inches below the collar seam for adult full-front prints, and one and a half to two inches for youth sizes.
What size DTF transfer fits a youth shirt?+
An 8" × 10" full front suits most youth sizes. Scaling an adult 11" × 14" design down to youth proportions usually looks oversized.
Can I print multiple transfers on one sheet?+
Yes, and you should — film is charged per sheet. Leave a quarter inch between designs so the powder does not bridge across them.
What resolution should DTF artwork be?+
300 DPI at the final printed size. A 12-inch wide print therefore needs 3,600 pixels of width.
