The application difference matters commercially: UV DTF needs no heat press, so customers can apply the stickers themselves. That makes them a shippable product rather than a service. How UV DTF works
- 1Print the design onto UV DTF film A with UV-curable ink, including a white layer
- 2A UV lamp cures the ink instantly as it prints
- 3Laminate film B over the top to create the transfer sandwich
- 4Peel away the backing and apply the sticker to the object by hand
- 5Remove the top transfer layer, leaving the design bonded to the surface
No heat, no powder, no press. The stickers are waterproof, scratch resistant and typically dishwasher-safe on the top rack.

UV DTF stickers ship in an envelope with no heat press needed at the customer end, which makes them a product rather than a service. We have not surveyed retail sticker pricing, so work out your own margin from your film and ink costs — note that DTF Station lists UV DTF film at $256.50 for 11.81 in rolls and UV ink and varnish at $80 per kg.
Do you need both machines?
Only if you sell both apparel and hard goods. They are not substitutes: UV DTF cannot print on fabric, and garment DTF will not survive on a mug. Most shops start with garment DTF because apparel demand is larger, then add UV DTF once they have customers asking for tumblers and drinkware.

Frequently asked questions
Can a UV DTF printer print on shirts?+
No. UV-cured resin ink is rigid and will crack on fabric. Garments require a standard DTF printer with water-based pigment ink and adhesive powder.

Is UV DTF the same as UV printing?+
Not quite. A UV flatbed printer prints directly onto an object, so the object must fit in the machine. UV DTF prints a transfer sticker that can be applied to curved or awkward surfaces of any size.
